Diamondback Overdrive 29er

Diamondback Overdrive 29er Mountain Bike

I had done an abundance of research and finally made the decision to choose a Diamondback Overdrive 29er mountain bike. Compared to other 29er mountain bikes, I based my decision on price and specs. The Overdrive 29er arrived in excellent condition, I admit I had been concerned based on some other reviews stating damage upon delivery. Nevertheless, my 29er arrived without any defects and in perfect condition.

Assembly was quite easy too, it took me maybe 30 minutes overall. I have had and road similar bikes that cost a lot more. The Diamondback Overdrive 29er Mountain bike is a smooth riding bike and is well worth the price tag.

The bike industry sees trends come and go. Innovation doesn’t always assure success, but in this case, I think the 29ers are one to write home about. Fortunately, the 29er revolution is one that’s here to stay—and for good reason. The category’s worldwide popularity continues explode, so too is the reliability of Diamondback’s signature 29er Overdrive. Every year moving forwad is determined to be yet another powerful year for 29ers with the this bike paving the way.

The Diamondback Overdrive goes above and beyond in terms of value and affordability and takes 29ers to higher level. The improved upon 6061-T6 lightweight aluminum Overdrive series frame boasts of newly formed top and down tubes, a machined headtube, together with forged drop outs with a replaceable derailleur hanger. Each of these features provide you with strength just where it’s needed; yet at the same time cutting weight and allowing you to go a further, faster with less energy.

The Geometry is also spot on. The sloping top tube provides lots of stand over clearance. A 71 degree head tube angle and a 73 degree seat tube angle create the perfect XC/trail geometry. The 440mm (17.3 inch) chainstays equates to an especially snappy rig and the ability to easily get the front tire off the ground – something that only a handful of 29ers can do.

There’s absolutely no questioning the rock crawling, root devouring power and capabilities of the larger sized wheels. Turning the greatest of hazards into the smallest of matters is the signature trait of the 29er mountain bike. By providing decreased rolling resistance, increased traction when cornering and greater ground clearance, one ride on one of these brilliant, well crafted machines is sure to sway even the most hard headed traditional cyclist.

Benefits of a 29” Wheel

Angle of Attack

Bigger wheels decrease your angle of attack by allowing you to roll over obstacles easier as well as faster. Bigger wheel = smaller obstacle.

A larger sized wheel enables one to transmit more momentum easier though even the toughest of obstacles.

Surface Patch Contact

The 29” wheels of the Diamondback Overdrive 29er are less likely to sink in soft material like and mud due to the larger contact patch causing lower ground pressure. The extended contact patch increases cornering and straight line traction, making these 29ers the best on the trail for performance.

The placement of the bottom bracket/cranks to the axles in the wheels also means that your relative center of gravity is lower, which means you feel as if you’re a part of the bike. This leads to a feeling of riding “in” the mountain bike instead of on top of it.

Tire Clearance

with more tire options than virtually any platform, the 29”wheel very easily accommodates off road as well as commuting tires.

Taller Riders

29″ mountain bikes tend to offer taller riders a more “natural” frame geometry.
The Overdrive is an excellent entry level 29er nicely balanced between price and performance. The SR Suntour XCT 100mm of travel for the ideal amount of cushion . In addition there are Disc brakes courtesy of Tektro and you have one of the greatest in class values for an entry level 29er.
